Self-Help Music

Posted on Sep 8th, 2008 by Acoustic Fuel : Music Therapy Acoustic Fuel

Set to funky little tunes and energetic grooves, singer-songwriter Nathen Aswell's lyrics have the type of messages that are empowering, inspiring, enlightening, and relaxing. In fact, his lyrics read like mantras or meditations. "Get out of your head and just do it...Animate, energize, stimulate, go to it...Do that thing that makes you sing..."

How many times you have found a song in your head that repeats over and over and over? And how many times has a song left you in a good mood? And how many times has a song left you in a bad one? It happens to me all of the time. What can I say? I am audio orientated...Highly sensitive in that area.

This week someone sent me a YouTube video featuring an artist from Detroit that sang about how "cold" it was there, and meant that in every sense of the word. I could feel her pain and her lyrics stuck with me. Stuck with me like a bad Dodger Dog. Urgghh! Not so good for the sub-consious. Because after two days of singing her hook, I needed to purge. But, thank goodness I had something to replace it with.

"Little by Little" by Nathen Aswell is the type of audio that you should listen to. Not necessarily for entertainment purposes, but for a better well being. In other words, these songs do a mind, body, and spirit good. Think of his music as something to power-up with when you are running low on energy. Like one of those protein bars that are complete or well-balanced. Or you could say, "A Nathen Aswell song a day keeps the head doctor a way!" I think you get the picture.

But, if you are the type that reads "self-help" books, takes yoga, believes in a higher power, and is inspired by Truth - this is the CD for you.

So, the next time you have a bad case of the blahs, be sure to check out "Do That Thing", "Be Still", "Little by Little", and "I Am Walking" by Nathen Aswell. You will have a whole new attitude!

Gaia??   When did the name change from Zaadz?

Wow!! Well it is plain to see that we were sleeping over here when that happened. LOL.. No really we have been hard at work looking for more positive music to showcase, working on AF To-Go our new digital download store,  working on new episodes of our Acoustic Fuel Live, and  spreading the message of the power of music.

We hope be more involved in the Gaia community and meet new and exciting people.

Peace..

Ever since I was a kid Everyone picked on me
Growing up was the hardest thing For a boy with no self esteem
So I found a little place In the backyard of my mind
Disappeared without a trace Didn't want them to find me

For every year that passed me by
There was less of me to recognize
I wish I made more room to grow
Instead I hid I didn't know

All the things That people say
All the things That people do
Will bring you down When you let it get to you
All the things That you don't know
All the things That make you fall
Doesn't really matter When you rise above it all

Now that I've become a man You were there to walk me through
Facing each memory Of those who harmed me
Now that I'm trusting you I've started exploring everything
Emotions that may drown me Like a river pouring out-

(Chorus)

Finished with the words that hurt
Finished with feeling like dirt
No use living in regret
Instead its best to forget

(Chorus)

No More Heartaches,
No More Worries - Oh, No,
Oh, No, No - From Now On.

No More Grey Clouds,
Hanging Over My High Head,
No, No, No, No - From Now On.

I Used To Live In A World So Full Of Pain And Sorrow,
Just A Victim Of My Yesterdays,
But Now I'm Strong And I'm Not Afraid Of What's Tomorrow,
'Cause I'm Living For Today - From Now On.

No More Running,
From My Shadow,
Oh, No, No, No - From Now On.

No More Waiting,
No More Trying,
Soul Searching, No, No - From Now On.

As habitual,
Even as habitual as it feels, we've just got to be strong, still I feel worthless and so damn jaded
Thinking that the world might have been better off with me gone.
Here I'm laying on the edge now and it's so serrated, wondering how I've held on this long.
Can't pick up my demons no more, or I'll wind up right back down on the floor.

As habitual as it feels, I've got to be strong.
Find faith in something and just carry on.
Even as habitual as it feels, you know we've got to just be strong.

Still, I am depressed and frustrated
wondering why getting loaded only makes me feel low.
Yeah, but being sober really aint that easy, when self-destruction is all that I know.
Guess I've been abusing myself for too long, now I've found out, chemical love is all wrong.

As habitual as it feels, I've got to be strong.
Find faith in something and just carry on.
Even as habitual as it feels, you know we've got to just be strong.

The Braintuning Project

Posted on Nov 20th, 2006 by Acoustic Fuel : Music Therapy Acoustic Fuel
Braintuning
Looks like more research is being done to help support the belief in the Power of Music. The Department of Psychology at the University of Helsinki is taking on a project called Braintuning.

The goal of this project is to gain a better understanding of music and emotion, and how it plays such a big part in our emotional life and brain functions.

The Braintuning project has received EU funding in the sum of Euro 2.5 million and will last 3 years. For more information visit www.braintuning.fi
